Vosges Peasants Fleeing Before the Invasion, Gustave Brion

In the late 1820s many from Soufflenheim began emigrating to New Germany (Maryhill) in Waterloo County, Canada and to East Eden, Buffalo and elsewhere in Erie County, New York. Emigration to Little Germany in the lower east side of Manhattan is first documented in the 1840s.
