Formed in the Vlllth century, Soufflenheim is first mentioned in 1147 when the Cistercian abbey of Neubourg acquired a “grangia” in Suvelnheim. The earliest village records are house and land sales beginning in 1368. Town accounts list income and expense from 1664 onwards. The earliest tax records are in 1701. The first census in 1819. The Drexler Birth Index lists all births from 1792 to 1862.
